Ragan Mechanical workforce: about 80 employees
For one of Equistar's largest scheduled shutdowns, Ragan completed maintenance and capital improvement projects. Work included welding, pipefitting on valve installations, and inspection of furnaces and boilers with repair as necessary. Ragan crews worked around the clock two shifts of at least 10 hours each for the duration of the project.

To provide Sterling the capacity to run continuous billets for production in its steel mill, Ragan installed new hydraulic, water, air, oxygen, natural gas and high pressure de-scale piping. Ragan also flushed the hydraulic lines for cleanliness.

In a major upgrade to increase MidAmerican's gas-vaporization capacity, Ragan Mechanical fabricated and installed pipe at the Waterloo Liquefied Natural Gas cryogenic facility. In addition, Ragan X-rayed 100 percent of the ASME B31.3 code piping.

During construction of this major grassroots four-unit power generation facility, Ragan installed the underground fire-protection loop, built the water-treatment facility on-site to handle all of the process water treatment, and built the large steam condenser for each of the four steam turbines.

During the mill's shutdown, Ragan completed a major furnace-tube remodel on existing 6-inch Schedule-160 tubes; hydraulically bent the Tube-Mac tubing for its new hydraulic system; installed piping additions to the air, water and hydraulic systems, and ran half-inch stainless tubing for grease and instrument lines.

During the construction of this new supermarket in the Duck Creek Plaza complex, Ragan completed all installation work. Hook-up site work included sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water mains. Inside the new store, Ragan provided plumbing for the specialized needs of all departments, meat, fish, produce, bakery and deli as well as staff and public restrooms.

In Davenport's Elmore Street corridor, Ragan Mechanical completed all site work hookups, storm and sanitary sewers and water mains, and the installation of all plumbing in the Fuddruckers restaurant, including the kitchen and restrooms. Ragan also ran refrigeration piping for the air conditioning system, and installed gas piping for the heating system and the kitchen equipment.
Remodel of plumbing, ventilation and heating systems

During remodeling of this mid-20th century school, Ragan Mechanical completed all under-floor and above-floor work on the sanitary sewer, including copper piping for hot and cold domestic water, and installation of the hydronic heating piping for the ventilation system. Ragan also updated and installed new equipment during these modifications, installing fan coil units, air-handling equipment and the hook-up of coils for VAV boxes in the heating system.

The boilers in this mid-20th century-era school required replacement. While upgrading to a new steam heating system, Ragan installed new boiler-feed pumps, a chemical pot feeder, steam-supply and return piping, condensate pump and piping, and a backflow-prevention system.

During construction, Ragan installed all under-floor and above-floor water, sanitary and storm sewers, gas piping and floor drains. Specialized needs included a food center with bakery, meat, fish and produce departments, a beautician shop and automotive center.

To supply the sanitary and storm sewer and domestic water requirements for this new medical office building, Ragan Mechanical installed a domestic water booster pump and backflow prevention systems and piping for medical gases. Installation included fit-outs for oncology and physical therapists, internal medicine, orthopedics, cardio-vascular, diversified therapy, wound care, administration offices, the Quad-City Kidney Center and refrigeration piping to support magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
